The Greater Sydenham Community

Welcome to the Greater Sydenham and Area Community!  We are comprised of the villages of Perth Road, Sydenham, Harrowsmith and all points in between. Our region borders the majestic Canadian Shield and is supported by layers of ancient limestone and granite. With dozens of gorgeous lakes and rivers and the greatest diversity of living things in eastern Canada, is it any wonder that we're part of only fifteen bio-reserves in Canada designated by UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere Programme?

The Greater Sydenham Community is equally rich in human history. First Nations peoples and early settlers used our region's numerous waterways as travel routes. Early settlers harvested timber, traded, established farms, mined and built lives here. Our villages have their own unique stories to tell, stories that go back hundreds of years. We are also only a short drive away from the Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Local citizens take great pride in this community – its past, present and future. The Greater Sydenham Community Association was formed to celebrate the area's beauty and heritage and unite all who are engaged in making it a great place to live, work, play and visit.

We developed this website for you... whether you are a longtime resident or a first time visitor. We hope you find it useful and we always welcome your feedback.
